Meet the Executive Board
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.
LLEAP wouldn't be able to make the progress without its running board. LLEAP has a variety of backgrounds from several majors and focuses on using officer expertise to spread knowledge and interest in the field of assistive technologies.
Hello, I’m Trace and I will be serving LLEAP this year as CEO. I have been part of LLEAP for two years, focused on the electronics of the system, and have put countless hours into this project. I’m really excited to see how we can grow as a project group throughout this year as we move to close out the prototype. In EMPOWER I was also responsible for most of the electronics on Skateboard for Carlo as well as helping other projects move along. This year Cory and I hope to make a great impact by providing a great interdisciplinary opportunity to students and by providing a prototype to our project challenger!

Hi! I’m Cory Garlinghouse and I am the LLEAP Chief Financial Officer for 2023! I have been part of EMPOWER for two years with the Lower-Limb Exoskeleton Assist Project (LLEAP), including LLEAP Treasurer. I have really enjoyed being a part of an organization that is focused on truly helping people! I look forward to this next year and seeing all that EMPOWER and LLEAP can accomplish!

I am a 3rd year Biomedical Engineering major concentrating in Mechanical Design and minoring in Math. I joined LLEAP during my second week here at Cal Poly, and the great people and experiences kept me coming back and getting more involved. Outside of school and LLEAP I love rock climbing and lifting, and am trying to get more into cooking as well. Here’s to another great year of working with this club!

I am a 4th year EE student minoring in CS. I love being hands-on and actually making things, and that happens plenty at LLEAP. It’s great to be part of such a large group of like-minded people. Outside of school I love camping, music, and learning how random things work.

This is my 3rd year in LLEAP and I’m excited to be back as a lead this year! I’ve learned so much about design, manufacturing, and ergonomics during my time here. LLEAP was the first club I found freshman year where I was learning so much, while having fun with a great group. I hope to continue to foster that environment as a Prototyping Tech Lead and assist in designing and manufacturing the exoskeleton. In my free time I enjoy bouldering, playing soccer, and finding new music.

I am super hyped to be leading prototyping this year! I joined LLEAP my second year, and it was the first engineering club I found that really manufactured and did serious design work, and small enough that we all still have fun and can goof around. When I’m not in the lab I am at the gym, taking photos, swimming, or playing guitar. Can’t wait to meet everyone!

I joined LLEAP my first year at Cal Poly and participated in several of the prototyping teams. I have learned about the many aspects that engineering brings with it through the club such as design through CAD, analysis, and manufacturing. I hope to contribute to the exoskeleton project within my first leadership role as a Prototyping Tech Lead. Outside of school, I enjoy playing badminton, video games, and finding great places to eat.

Excited for my third year as a LLEAP member and first year as a tech lead. I have been a part of many teams and side projects over the past few years with my focus being on mechanical design and manufacturing. In addition to LLEAP I had the pleasure of leading the Skateboard for Carlo FDP last year. Aside from school, I have a passion for cars, working for the EV startup Orbis Electric over the past couple years. I can’t wait to help out this year and see what new heights we can reach with our Exoskeleton prototype!

Hey guys, I joined LLeap my 2nd year and I’ve been trying to make a heavy involvement in simulation, reinforcement learning, and controls of the robot. I’ve learned so much about robotics through FRC and what I’ve done here and I hope to teach what I’ve learned too. In my free time, I’ll spend a lot of time playing video games, climbing, tennis, and hiking.

I joined LLEAP two years ago in hopes of gaining experience in the fields of robotics and electronics; this year, I’ll be leading the team working on mapping the movements seen in simulation onto the physical system. On the side, I enjoy playing sports and getting outdoors.
